2026 Vendor Information – Pappy Hoel Campground at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
Are you planning to be a vendor at the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally? We’re excited to have you join us at the Pappy Hoel Campground – the premier destination during Rally Week! Please read the following steps carefully to ensure your setup and participation are smooth and fully compliant.
START HERE:
Step 1: Apply for a Temporary South Dakota Sales Tax License
All vendors – whether selling products, displaying merchandise, or offering services – must obtain a Temporary South Dakota Sales Tax License, even if you already hold a permanent license.
-
A new application must be completed each year.
-
If you have a permanent South Dakota Sales Tax License but are operating at a temporary location during the Rally, you are still required to obtain a temporary license.
All vendors also need a Meade County License application.
Step 2: Determine If a Bond Is Required
Some vendors are required to post a bond.
- If you are a first-time vendor, you must post a $500 bond.
- If you attended last year’s rally and filed and paid your sales taxes on time, you do not need to post a bond.
- If you filed or paid your sales tax after the due date in the prior year, you will need to post a bond. Please contact the Department of Revenue at (605) 394-2332 to determine bond amount.
- If you were a vendor in the past but did not attend in the prior year, you will need to post a $500 bond.
- Contact the South Dakota Department of Revenue directly at 605-394-2332 with any questions, to determine if a bond is necessary, and what amount is required.
Step 3: Submit Your Application (and Bond, if required)
Step 4: Receive Your License and Packet
- Your sales tax license card and informational packet can be emailed to you – only after your bond (if required) is received.
- Be sure to bring your license card with you to the Rally as we will need a copy of all your documents. If you need a copy of your license card, one can be printed for you at the temporary office at City of Sturgis at 1040 Harley-Davidson Way will open in August 2025. Please review the office hours for the Department of Revenue’s office at Sturgis City Hall.
Complete and submit the Pappy Hoel Campground Vendor Application and Agreement to finalize your spot.
Please note: Food vendors must comply with South Dakota Department of Health regulations and may be subject to inspection.
